Mr. Munroe is a Mechanical Engineer with 8 years of projects and management experience within engineering organizations in the electric power industry. He provides scientific and strategic consultation to industrial clients and specializes in the areas of: project and operations management, interdepartmental process development, quality improvement, causal analysis, corrective action plan development, business strategy and planning, quantitative methods, and engineering leadership.
As a certified Project Management Professional, Mr. Munroe has a strong background in all phases of project management including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Munroe worked in both project engineering and management roles for AZZ Incorporated (A U.S. based electrical equipment and components manufacturer). During his tenure at AZZ, Mr. Munroe led 16 projects through the design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning stages. These projects centered on Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) Gas Insulated Lines and Gas Insulated Technologies, and developing solutions for high voltage generation, transmission, and substation applications. His managerial roles involved developing interdepartmental organizational processes that improved electrical component part and assembly design, procurement, manufacturing, and production.

Currently providing consultation for an electric utility (Transmission & Distribution) that includes a station condition assessment of its non-pipeline gas facilities. The assessment will include collecting data on corrective maintenance, conducting interviews, performing physical site walk-downs, and developing station prioritization. The assessment will result in the identification of the most critical station systems health factors, the development of a 10 year station plan, and budget basis for rate case testimony.
Participated in providing consultation on the development of causal analysis training implementation activities for a gas utility (Transmission & Distribution). This project included the development of training presentations and training aid material for root cause analysis and apparent cause evaluation topics and tools including: problem statement development, interview techniques, fishbone diagrams, human factors, process map and timeline comparisons, 5-whys, fault tree analysis, and developing corrective action programs.
Participated in a root cause assessment of an electric system outage for an electric utility (Transmission & Distribution). The assessment included data collection and analysis of process maps and timelines which led to the identification of the contributing and root causes as well as the definition of corrective actions.
Led a project team on a hydroelectric power generating station project. The project included the design and configuration of electrical transmission components connecting the underground powerhouse transformer gallery and the switchgear building by way of three inclined shafts at distinct compound angles.
Participated in a nuclear power plant substation project. The project included a retrofit and the extension of an existing substation that required transmission line equipment replacement and the design of interface connections for both switchgear and transformers. The project also included the definition and management of the installation schedule in order to comply with strict outage requirements.
Led a team on a power generation substation project. The project included design and configuration of gas insulated transmission lines connecting new incoming electrical transmission lines to an existing air insulated substation.
