Mr. Ogbuefi has worked on projects including field data collection for human participant studies, developed data-driven tools for risk-based analyses of electric utility infrastructure, and synthesized data from multiple project reports for presentation. His expertise includes software development in Python, PySpark, RStudio and MATLAB as well as data visualization analysis using Tableau and Power BI. He has project-based experience using machine learning libraries such as Keras, Pytorch and Tensorflow and developing data engineering and preprocessing pipelines for machine learning algorithms.

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Ogbuefi worked as a Data Scientist with the Saban Research Institute at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles where he built data products and dashboard visualizations to support the research needs of the physicians. He supported both the data engineering and pipeline development of these projects. Mr. Ogbuefi has worked on a variety of data modalities, from image data to text and electric medical record (EMR) data. Mr. Ogbuefi also has experience constructing machine/deep learning algorithms within these data modalities in conjunction with using traditional statistical models.

Mr. Ogbuefi received his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics and Applied Statistics, respectively. During his academic studies, he was engaged in a variety of data science internships, from applying Bayesian inference to model the health state progression of sepsis patients at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, to using regression analysis to understand the influence of stock price changes and how it affects job tenure. His experiences working within research and business spaces has made him multifaceted in understanding the needs of various types of projects, from project planning through execution.
