Ms. Schachtner’s experience includes fused filament fabrication three-dimensional printing. Her work comprises mainly of the optimization and evaluation of FFF printers, development and fabrication of novel filaments as well as analysis of 3D printed specimens. Currently, Ms. Schachtner is working towards the development of a filament infused with anti-biotics.

Ms. Schachtner also specializes in the analysis of retrieved medical devices. She has experience in the handling and decontamination of medical devices, preservation of retrieved devices, and coordination of retrieval programs with multiple institutions. Ms. Schachtner’s retrieval-based research primarily focuses on various formulation of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), particularly concentrating on the in vivo degradation of retrieved acetabular cups. In addition to her work with retrieved medical devices, she has also organized international scientific meetings.

Additionally, Ms. Schachtner has experience in wear particulate analysis, and MRI compatibility testing.
