Dr. Lauren Ward is a Scientist in Exponent’s Data Sciences practice with experience applying data science techniques to Earth Science problems. She is skilled in analyzing large geospatial datasets, analytical and numerical modeling of complex physical systems, statistical analysis, and data visualization. Dr. Ward has participated in interdisciplinary research projects with other scientists and engineers in both her academic and professional career aiding in data collection, processing and analysis, and communication of results. She is also proficient in Python and MATLAB.

Dr. Ward received a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, where she developed fault system models of California and Hawai’i to study their earthquake cycles and ultimately improve our understanding of their seismic hazards and risk. Her research utilizes geospatial data, such as Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), and she is experienced with their processing and analysis techniques. Dr. Ward’s prior work experience includes an X-Force (NSIN) Fellow for the United States Department of Army CTO (Chief Technology Officer) and a Data Analysis Intern at the NASA Goddard Space and Flight Center.
