Dr. Williams specializes in crop protection, where he provides regulatory and technical advice and support to clients on all aspects of residues and dietary risk assessments. He has particular expertise and knowledge of the EU regulatory systems for pesticides and biocides at practical, technical and regulatory levels, which he uses to provide expert scientific and strategic consultation to clients, enabling them to gain successful active substance approvals and product registrations. 

Dr. Williams evaluates data and prepares dossiers for submission to regulatory authorities. He is also expert in the preparation of submissions to the JMPR to obtain CODEX MRLs.

Dr. Williams is experienced in all aspects of chemistry and dietary exposure data that support the authorisation of plant protection products and approval of active substances under national and EU legislation (Directive 91/414/EEC and Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009). Dr. Williams has significant experience evaluating chemistry, methods, metabolism and residues data for inclusion in global (JMPR) and EU submissions, and MRL proposals (Regulation (EC) No 396/2005) after gaining over 5 years of experience with the UK competent authority, Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). He has previously represented the UK at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) expert meetings and was involved in the development of EU guidance and risk assessment tools. Dr. Williams has gained experience in the evaluation of biocidal products under national and EU (Directive 98/8/EC and Regulation (EU) No 528/2012) legislation, and of the EU requirements for chemical substances under REACH.
