Ms. Selina Xu holds a M.E.E. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She has a wealth of experience in biocides, having more than 8 years’ experience working with Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and 5 years in coating and paper additives industry. Whilst with Shanghai Johnson she was presented with an “Officer Award”, a prestigious award from SC Johnson’s China office in recognition for her outstanding role in supporting a major project launch. In addition to biocides, she has regulatory experience in industrial chemicals, cosmetics and food contact materials.
Selina was the key member of the household insecticide association in China. She successfully led the lobbying work to reduce the QR code requirement under Pesticide Management Regulation in China resulting in significant savings for the industry.
Prior to joining Exponent, she led the regulatory affairs team in North Asia for Shanghai Johnson and was heavily involved in work to update the Chinese regulations such as Pesticide Management Regulation, Disinfectant Regulation, Hazardous Chemical Management, Transportation Regulation, etc. She has also worked closely with government authorities, such as ICAMA, MOH and AICs, with regard to registrations, notifications and label/advertisement compliance. Selina has a wealth of experience in product recall, crisis management and government affairs. Her insight of the regulatory process has been successfully applied in supporting the market launch and product supply in a cost-saving way.
Prior to working for Shanghai Johnson, Selina worked in the chemical industry as a regulatory affairs specialist focusing on MSDS, labelling, chemical inventory and food contact. Following the new chemical notification regulation implemented in China, she has been heavily involved in preparing low volume notifications for clients. Additionally, she has been involved in the regulation interpretation and implementation and the Food Contact Regulation in China. She also was member of AICM (Association of International Chemical Manufacturers) while she worked for Akzo Nobel and was involved in the development for drug precursor regulation.
