Dr. Brian D'Andrade, Senior Managing Engineer in Exponent's Electrical Engineering & Computer Science practice, has been named winner of the 2015 New York Intellectual Property Law Association's Inventor of Year Award. The recognition pays tribute to an individual, or group of individuals who, through their inventive talents, have made worthy contributions to society by promoting "the progress of Science and useful Arts."
An excerpt from his nomination refers to his pre-Exponent inventions: "Dr. D'Andrade is inventor or co-inventor on twenty granted patents and several further pending patent applications that cover a wide range of innovations within the burgeoning field of technologies and materials for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). His patents have already been licensed by major manufacturers of OLED displays found in the newest mobile phones, TVs, digital cameras, tablets, car audio systems, and other consumer electronics."
Dr. D'Andrade has a diversified set of expertise in electrical, electronic, optical engineering, microelectronic systems, communications, network protocols, software and semiconductors. He applies electrical engineering principles to analyze how electronic products or electrical systems may cause fires, explosions, or other thermal events.
