Mr. Scholz expertise combines 12+ years in chassis and suspension design, structural testing, failure analysis, tooling design, and materials science with extensive experience in automotive and commercial vehicle product development. His work has spanned the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototype development to vehicle launch and high-volume manufacturing.

Mr. Scholz is a consultant at Exponent with more than 12 years of experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries. His expertise spans product development, chassis and structural testing, failure analysis, manufacturing, and vehicle launch execution. He approaches engineering challenges through an integrated understanding of mechanical engineering, materials science, chemistry, testing, design, and manufacturing.

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Scholz was a Senior Chassis Engineer at Lucid Motors, where he supported the launch of the Gravity SUV chassis, led vehicle-level root cause investigations, and implemented design improvements to resolve performance and quality issues.

Before Lucid, Mr. Scholz held several engineering roles at Daimler Truck. As a Test Engineer, he led full-vehicle and component structural testing, including evaluation of independent front suspension systems and electric vehicle battery pack durability. As a Design Engineer, he developed fuel systems, exhaust systems, and related components for heavy trucks. Earlier, as a Tooling Design Engineer, he focused on product usability and manufacturing solutions utilizing additive manufacturing and conventional machining technologies.

Mr. Scholz earned a Master of Science in Materials Science from Portland State University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Eastern Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Central Washington University.

In addition to his professional work, Mr. Scholz has supported STEM education through In4All, leading hands-on science activities in underserved elementary schools to expand access to science education for fourth- and fifth-grade students.
