Mr. Iu has over six years of construction management experience as a program manager and project manager. He has first-hand experience working in general contractor, subcontractor, and owner settings, performing capital planning, procurement, scheduling, estimating, change management, quality assurance, and inspection. He aims to serve clients and all stakeholders to find solutions to prevent and manage project risks and challenges.
Mr. Iu's projects have encompassed all phases of construction in utilities, federal government, and housing industries. Prior to joining Exponent, he worked as an owner's representative at a federal government campus. He represented the client as a project manager, utilizing weekly look-ahead schedules, change order analysis, procurement package creation, fiscal year forecasts, etc. He develops engineering protocol from the ground-up for interdisciplinary teams, setting up the structure for program success. This includes generating quantitative and observational reports per customer need throughout construction that can be used for documentation and improvement basis. Mr. Iu has also worked for a general contractor managing self-performed concrete and other scopes (waterproofing, carpentry, glazing, MEP, framing).
Mr. Iu earned his master's degree from the University of California, Berkeley — Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. This background enables him to leverage concepts such as lean construction, engineering law, and business development into his work.
