Mr. Como specializes in accident reconstruction and the application of mechanical system and component analyses to vehicles. Mr. Como’s experience investigating and analyzing motor-vehicle low and high-speed frontal, rear, and side impacts includes conducting vehicle and site inspections, 3D scanning and photogrammetry techniques, computer simulation, and application of fundamental principles of physics. Mr. Como has received specialized training in accident reconstruction and has participated in physical demonstrations including low-speed crash testing and vehicle component testing.

Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Como conducted design and analysis of new components for nuclear submarines. Responsibilities included performing static calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of internal stresses in complex mechanical systems, and preparation of technical reports and presentations summarizing findings. Mr. Como also supported testing used in evaluating these mechanical system designs prior to implementation. Additionally, Mr. Como has applied FEA analyses and physical testing to evaluate the structural integrity of various types of butterfly and ball valves along with their associated brackets in high-pressure environments.
