Dr. Charles Menzie Receives the WCEE 2016 Champion Award

Women's Council on Energy and the Environment (WCEE) has selected Exponent's Principal Scientist as the 2016 Champion. Dr. Menzie will be honored at WCEE's annual gala at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington DC on March 9, 2016. WCEE established the Champion Award in 1998 to recognize the importance of mentors for women professionals and to honor those individuals who have championed the advancement of women in our industries. 

Dr. Menzie is a principal scientist in Exponent's Ecological and Biological Sciences practice. Dr. Menzie's primary area of expertise is the environmental fate and effects of physical, biological, and chemical stressors on terrestrial and aquatic systems. This includes work on chemicals in the environment, oil and gas operations, fossil fuel and nuclear power plants, alternative energy projects, invasive species, and climate change impacts.

Currently, Dr. Menzie is the Global Executive Director of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry where he has been a champion for expanded programs to develop the next generation of environmental leaders. Dr. Menzie is also being recognized for his leadership to establish a culture of equality and gender balance in the workplace. His efforts have successfully encouraged many individuals to participate in diverse and enjoyable professional opportunities while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. As a result of Charlie's leadership, his former and current colleagues have enjoyed an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, are respected, encouraged, and thrive.
