Helping clients meet regulations

Exponent's occupational exposure monitoring studies provided clients with the documentation they needed to effectively respond to a test order issued by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)'s chemical risk evaluation process.

THE CHALLENGE

A consortium of seven chemical companies, including BASF, 3M, Boeing, Huntsman, and others, asked Exponent to assess employee exposure to TDCE, a chemical EPA is evaluating for human and environmental health risks. Exponent worked with the consortium to assess exposure scenarios, conduct new monitoring studies, and develop documentation to send to EPA for consideration in their risk evaluation.

Our experts worked across our firm to analyze the risks of exposure to TDCE among workers, reviewing existing studies, conducting occupational health studies, and examining regulatory permitting documentation.

With sound and verified exposure data, the companies in the consortium successfully met EPA requirements and may ultimately avoid costly manufacturing delays and even penalties.
