World-Class Indoor and Outdoor Facilities
At the Test and Engineering Center, Exponent scientists and engineers work across technical disciplines to ensure that your product or prototype meets safety and compliance standards — and delights your customers.
Our 147-acre facility is designed for large-scale testing and experiments.
The TEC offers a combination of specialized test and prototyping equipment with reconfigurable test areas and instrumentation.
Outdoors, the TEC maintains a vehicle proving ground and full-scale crash facility. Inside, you'll find nearly 27,000 square feet of high-bay space, used to evaluate everything from sports equipment to large-format electric vehicle batteries.
Our electrical lab in Natick is accredited to ISO 17025 by A2LA for evaluating lithium-ion batteries (A2LA Certificate 2561.02).
In addition to pure test and evaluation, the TEC facilities support part and product prototyping with extensive "direct-from-digital" mechanical and electrical fabrication tools — complemented by dedicated design and assembly areas. We also use the facility to support short turn/small lot production, as projects require.
The TEC test facilities include:
Anechoic Chamber for RF Testing
Anthropomorphic Test Dummy (ATD) Laboratory
Controlled Rollover System (CRIS)
Hydraulic and Pneumatic Load Frames
Indoor Test Facility
Inverted Drop Testing
Machine Shop with CNC Mills and Lathe
Mechanical Test Equipment: Hardness, Impact, and Vibration
Motion Capture Studio
Oval Track, Skid Pad, and All-Terrain Area
Robot Desert Test Course
Roller Coaster Dolly
Test Methodology and Engineering
Vehicle Crash Rail
Vehicle-scale Thermal Test Chamber
Wire Bending Deceleration Sled
Meeting Your Challenges Where They Are
Ensuring regulatory compliance. Evaluating equipment safety. Assessing site surface conditions. Our integrated teams of experts in North America, Europe, and Asia conduct on-site inspections, custom testing, and rapid response for a wide range of challenges. Exponent can also assist with inspections in remote locations through encrypted video-streaming capabilities.
Inform Your UX Decisions With Science
Our Exponent user experience (UX) teams design safe, successful user experience rooted in a deep understanding of your audiences. While we can tackle virtually any UX challenge, we offer particular expertise in automotive products, consumer products, industrial equipment, and medical devices.
