Winnie Hung Spotlight Alt

When I realized I'd reached the end of a learning plateau at my former employer, I turned to my alumni group at Stanford, where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering, and that's where I made the connection to Exponent.

Exponent is a Premier Problem Solver

We put together the best minds from all the disciplines we have under one roof, and we assemble a well-qualified team to provide comprehensive and creative solutions that work. Exponent is an end-to-end solutions architect, providing insights to remedy problems and proactively predict and prepare our clients' businesses to manage and overcome challenges.

I'm inspired by the intelligence and generosity of my colleagues. They freely share their knowledge and enthusiasm as we look for the ultimate solutions for our clients.

Getting things right for our clients is very important, and we have the top experts and technical rigor of an independent examination and quality control system to do it.

Sustainability is one of the top factors contributing to the complexity of buildings and structures. We want to construct a building for long-term sustenance, one that can be maintained and operated sustainably.

Many things can go wrong in construction, and I work on the front end to prevent failures from happening — whether they're caused by resource issues, the supply chain, or communication gaps between contractors, owners, and designers. All those factors can contribute to problems, such as collapsing buildings, toppling foundations, collapsing transmission towers, leaks, and issues with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

My work in advancing science and engineering overall is one of continuous improvement — a continuous optimization process. And I think at the core of engineering, that's what it is about. My work makes a positive impact on the community and with our clients by helping them develop new processes and improve processes so that they can execute their work more efficiently, more productively.

Multidisciplinary Expertise, All Under One Roof

We're unique in our space. At Exponent, we have all the expertise one needs for solving an engineering or business management problem. And our global offices provide additional value for our clients who have infrastructure and businesses across the world. We're able to mobilize a team that is local to that client's office location and help them tackle their problem fast.

It's exciting to work here because of the entrepreneurial spirit. It allows a lot of latitude and freedom to grow, and Exponent gives you all the tools and support systems you need to thrive.

At this firm, we support the growth of employees — in fact, professional growth and development is really important, such as industry association certifications and licensures. We highly encourage our team members to take those steps, and we support them financially to complete them.

Exponent Offers Great Flexibility

You're in control of your schedule. You meet your clients' needs, produce quality products on your projects, and support your teams — you own your day to make that happen. Exponent really does achieve the goal of work-life balance. It not a cliché to say that here, at Exponent, your career is in your hands.

Work-life balance is important to me, too. I have hobbies outside of work. We recently came back from a trip to Tahoe, where I enjoyed riding ATVs with my family. It's fun for my body to be connected to a four wheeled vehicle, to feel the speed and movement, in a way I don't experience when I'm just driving my car. I feel more connected to the terrain. It's amazing how an ATV can balance itself without toppling over. It's also an example of when I see Exponent's impact in the world around me — our firm experts have been involved in ATV rollover investigations. Exponent has had a hand in making so many incredible inventions even safer, healthier, and more sustainable — maybe even your favorite products too.
