Dr. Falak Shah, a consultant in Exponent's Mechanical Engineering practice, has been appointed to the Metals Fatigue and Fracture Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers' Structural Engineering Institute.
Beginning in October 2016, Dr. Shah was appointed to serve for a six-year term. The committee's scope includes "fracture and fatigue behavior of structural materials and their inspection, rehabilitation and evaluation of fatigue damage, to extend useful life of metal structures, to develop safe design procedures."
Dr. Shah specializes in failure analysis and evaluation of structures and structural materials. At Exponent, he has assisted a broad range of clients by investigating failures and performance issues associated with steel structures, building envelopes, roofs, flooring systems, and ceramic materials.
