Exponent Co-Hosts Cybersecurity Summit With Quantum Computing Leaders

Exponent teams with industry leaders, Infragard San Francisco Members Alliance, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to discuss the future of security and quantum computing.

Quantum computing promises to unlock new ways of simulating physical phenomena, but it also has the potential to unleash cybersecurity threats. In the future, incredibly powerful quantum computers could easily break the most sophisticated encryption methods, revealing sensitive financial, personal, and government information. InfraGard is a partnership between leading tech firms and the FBI, and this July, Exponent is teaming with the Infragard San Francisco Members Alliance to hold a summit to explore the new frontiers of cybersecurity and quantum computing. 

"Future-Proofing Cybersecurity: Preparing for the Quantum Shift — 2026 Forum" will feature leading researchers from across cybersecurity, digital technology, quantum computing, and cybercrime investigations. They'll cover the latest developments in quantum computing around the world, how artificial intelligence is reshaping cybersecurity, how the FBI is approaching cybersecurity in this new age, and more.

The summit will feature Exponent President and Principal Engineer John Pye, Ph.D., P.E. Dr. Pye has more than 25 years of experience in engineering design and early-stage product development and a long history of addressing analysis, test, and technology integration issues around the rapid development and prototyping of complex systems with the highest expectations of safety and performance. Dr. Pye also has a long history of providing support to the U.S. Army, including bringing transformative, visionary rapid prototypes and solutions to benefit and equip warfighters.

Dr. Pye will be joined by Exponent Principal Engineer Adam Sorini, Ph.D., who has expertise in computer science, cybersecurity, and digital forensics. At Exponent, Dr. Sorini works on projects involving a wide array of quantum technologies, including performing detailed surveys of quantum computing literature, hardware, software, and publicly available frameworks for leveraging quantum computing cloud services.

Exponent Principal Engineer Brad McGoran, P.E., will also be on hand to discuss his cybersecurity experience and our possible cybersecurity futures. He has served as an advisor to U.S. government programs and leads Exponent cybersecurity teams. Mr. McGoran leads Exponent's identification technology division, including investigating and analyzing the reasons for reliability and quality problems with secure credentials and devices, including smart cards, e-passports, and mobile payments/NFC. 

Our experts will be joined by leading quantum computing, information security, and cryptography experts from across the tech sector. The event will be hosted at Exponent's Menlo Park, California, headquarters. Attendance is by invitation only.
