Ashley E. Mathew-Brothers, MD, is a board-certified anatomic, clinical, and forensic pathologist with several years of experience as a Medical Examiner.

She has performed over 1500 forensic and hospital autopsies to date, working with various agencies and interested parties to help determine cause and manner of death in both natural and un-natural settings.

Dr. Mathew-Brothers' work encompasses death investigation, injury causation, and disease processes, and she has provided expert testimony in criminal and civil proceedings in district and circuit courts. She is well-versed in firearm-related deaths, thermal injuries, occupational incidents, blunt- and sharp-force injuries, asphyxial deaths, toxicology, pediatric non-accidental trauma, and in-custody deaths. She also brings extensive experience in case review and consultation, ranging from insurance case claims to private autopsy reviews.

After completing her medical degree in India, Dr. Mathew-Brothers returned to the United States and completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Forensic Pathology from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in conjunction with the Kentucky Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. She currently serves as a gratis/volunteer assistant professor at the University of Louisville Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the University of Kentucky Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Dr. Mathew-Brothers belongs to several nationally and internationally recognized organizations, including the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). She is an Overseas Member/Affiliate Member of the Medico-Legal Society (UK) and the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine (UK). Dr. Mathew-Brothers is also a member of the editorial board of Academic Forensic Pathology.
