She specializes in trauma-related emergencies, workplace injuries and accidents, medical chart review, and the evaluation of injury-related morbidity and mortality. Dr. Horton brings more than 15 years of clinical experience practicing in high-volume Level I and Level II trauma centers.
Dr. Horton's background in biomedical engineering provides a unique foundation for understanding mechanisms of injury and their clinical consequences. Her expertise spans patient assessment, medical record review, laboratory data interpretation, and radiologic imaging, including X-ray, ultrasound, and CT studies. She is experienced in evaluating complex medical cases and applying evidence-based clinical analysis to support case investigations and expert review.
In her clinical practice, Dr. Horton cares for patients in high-acuity emergency departments, performing real-time assessment and management of both traumatic and medical emergencies. Her work often involves close collaboration with specialists across numerous disciplines, including surgery and surgical subspecialties, neurology, cardiology, and psychiatry, providing her with broad insight into multidisciplinary patient care and clinical decision-making.
Dr. Horton is a Clinical Affiliate with Atrium Health Wake Forest Emergency Physicians and practices within the Moses Cone Hospital system in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also serves as Medical Director of Cone Health MedCenter Drawbridge and currently holds the role of Chair of Emergency Medicine for the Cone Health system.
