Marc A. Paradiso, M.S., P.E.
Mr. Paradiso specializes in accident reconstruction, vehicle crash analysis, and failure analysis. He has a background in vehicle dynamics, vehicle simulation and analysis, performance structure design and analysis, and consumer product design. Mr. Paradiso has performed investigations relating to motor vehicle and machinery accidents, truss failures, and code and standards compliance. Mr. Paradiso is proficient at the three-dimensional scanning of vehicles, incident scenes, and product components and in the development of computer models from these scans.
Prior to joining Exponent, Mr. Paradiso worked for an engineering firm designing and analyzing structures and equipment used in the performance industry. He later moved into consumer product design designing strollers and retrofitting prior designs to meet stricter CPSC standards. His last role before joining Exponent was as a vehicle dynamicist and performance and simulation engineer supporting a team in the INDYCAR series. In this role he was responsible for creating multibody vehicle models, running vehicle lap time simulations, performing component lap time impact studies, and real time data analysis. He also wrote a Static and Steady-State Vehicle Analysis program to facilitate quicker setup changes during events.
Mr. Paradiso’s Master’s research was in the area of vehicle modeling and simulation. He performed testing to determine the minimal number of degrees of freedom the specific vehicle being evaluated needed to accurately describe vehicle ride comfort as described by ISO 2631. Mr. Paradiso then built a nonlinear ride quality model, as well as a random road profile generator in order to feed inputs into the system.
