Exponent is pleased to welcome Teri Hermel-Davidock, Ph.D., as a principal in the Biomedical Engineering & Sciences practice. Dr. Hermel-Davidock brings more than 20 years of experience leading global engineering, R&D, and manufacturing in the medtech industry.

Dr. Hermel-Davidock specializes in medical device development, manufacturing scale-up, process technology, automation strategy, quality systems, and regulatory compliance for Class II, Class III, and combination-product platforms. Throughout her career, she has led large global organizations and enterprise transformation initiatives spanning early-stage research and technology development, new product introduction, manufacturing expansion, and commercialization. She has directed enterprise technology roadmaps and R&D investment portfolios, digital performance systems, and predictive analytics that strengthen product innovation, quality, and long-term scalability. Her expertise includes continuous glucose monitoring systems, diagnostics, infusion and drug delivery technologies, advanced materials, sterilization validation, device-drug interactions, extractables and leachables, and regulatory remediation efforts.

Before joining Exponent, Dr. Hermel-Davidock led global engineering operations at a major medical device company, where she oversaw nearly 200 professionals across North America, Europe, and Asia and directed engineering strategy, manufacturing technology, automation, and capacity expansion initiatives. She performed this work alongside new product introduction (NPI) efforts that supported the rapid growth of the company's continuous glucose monitoring portfolio. She led engineering teams responsible for developing the manufacturing processes and control technologies enabling new product development and introduction, and guided technology transfer across internal and external manufacturing networks to ensure sustained product quality and performance at a global scale. She played a key role in improving product reliability and quality, supporting FDA remediation efforts, and driving Industry 4.0 modernization programs across global manufacturing networks.

Dr. Hermel-Davidock is a recognized leader in her field. She serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Johns Hopkins University, and she was formerly chair of the MedTech Europe Circular Economy Working Group. She has been an invited speaker at numerous international industry, regulatory, and executive forums, with multiple peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Hermel-Davidock is a named inventor on 25+ U.S. and international patents spanning medical devices, advanced materials, polymer science, antimicrobial technologies, and catheter systems. She earned a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in materials engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. She also holds an Executive Scholar Certification in General Management from the Kellogg School of Management, completed Stanford Biodesign Executive Education Training, and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt Leader certification.
