In partnership with industry peers, Exponent's John Campbell, Liberty Hoekstra-Atwood, Chris Monk, and Audra Fraser have produced a research report published by the National Academies Press titled "Diagnostic Assessment and Countermeasure Selection: A Toolbox for Traffic Safety Practitioners."
The free report covers factors contributing to motor vehicles crashes and presents a toolbox to help highway safety practitioners diagnose those contributing factors in order to select appropriate countermeasures. It was published in conjunction with the National Cooperative Highway Research Program and the Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program and is available for download now.
"Diagnostic Assessment and Countermeasure Selection"
From the publication: "In many cases, agencies continue to use approaches such as descriptive statistics and anecdotal information to perform the diagnostic assessment without a thorough understanding of the expectations for a given context or road type."
