Melissa Mendias, Ph.D., P.E., CFEI
Dr. Mendias has an extensive background in semiconductor manufacturing and materials, having worked in both process and quality engineering at Intel where she focused her efforts on efficiency improvements through predictive maintenance and automated data analysis. She managed big data systems and helped to implement the first Tri-Gate processes through statistical and model-based methods. Dr. Mendias was also one of the lead faculty members involved in the start-up of the undergraduate engineering program at Grand Canyon University, where she designed and taught several courses including the Materials Science course and lab for Electrical Engineering students. She is experienced in materials characterization methods, particularly scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy.
Her master’s and doctoral research at Michigan Technological University included VLSI design work for the Pierre Auger Cosmic Ray Observatory and the development of a localized heating process for the single-chip integration of MEMS-based sensors with CMOS circuitry, respectively. She also has a background in automotive engineering and electronics from internships at Chrysler and Motorola as well as several personal vehicle and ATV projects.
