Mr. Steigerwalt brings over 20 years of comprehensive experience across all phases of construction projects. His expertise spans program and project management, construction management, CPM scheduling, cost estimating, contracting, project controls, and engineering design. He provides strategic guidance to clients on a wide range of topics, including construction management standards of care, project scheduling, cost estimation, risk mitigation, and claims prevention. Mr. Steigerwalt has extensive experience in critical infrastructure and energy projects, encompassing heavy highway and mass transit systems, electric power generation, commercial and residential developments, and site infrastructure improvements.
Mr. Steigerwalt has a proven track record in developing, analyzing, and supporting claims involving schedule delays, standards of care in construction and engineering, productivity losses, earned value assessments, design requirements, damage quantification, and cost overruns. His experience encompasses both domestic and international projects.
Before joining Exponent, Mr. Steigerwalt held key roles across the construction and engineering sectors. He served as a construction manager and owner's representative on a major heavy highway and mass transit projects. In this role, he developed expertise in construction management best practices, claims prevention, and quality assurance. He later held the position of contract and business manager for a prominent electric infrastructure contractor, where he gained in-depth experience in contract and subcontract administration, construction insurance policies, and teaming agreements. Earlier in his career, Mr. Steigerwalt worked as a professional design engineer at one of the world's leading design firms, specializing in roadway design, cost estimating, traffic control planning, drainage and stormwater systems, and site development improvements.
