Accident Reconstruction & Rapid Response
Exponent's accident reconstruction engineers utilize a broad range of technical capabilities to analyze complex crash events involving virtually every type of on-road, off-road, and industrial vehicle. Our multidisciplinary team provides an accurate and timely solution to the client’s technical problem while following an analytical and systematic approach to problem-solving in evaluating the technical issues. These steps include reviewing case information, researching technical literature, and conducting vehicle, site, and component inspections to document and preserve physical evidence. A rigorous process of interpreting the evidence and applying scientific principles is then used to draw conclusions regarding the event.
Exponent engineers are experienced in a variety of analysis techniques and apply appropriate methodologies for the situation. The experience gained from Exponent’s test and research programs over the last several decades provides further scientific basis and insight to evaluate crash and occupant dynamics during complex single- and multi-vehicle accidents. Our engineers are trained and experienced in applying three-dimensional (3D) computer modeling and simulation software to analyze complex events. When appropriate, Exponent has the capabilities to perform complex full-scale testing and demonstrations to further evaluate specific accident situations. For vehicles equipped with event data recorders (EDR) or other data recording devices, Exponent has the technical knowledge and tools to image and interpret the data.
Rapid response teams located across the U.S. are available to document the evidence from vehicle accidents and provide a timely and reliable assessment of the incident. Exponent’s engineers utilize the latest technology including measurement tools such as 3D laser scanners, and software tools to collect electronic data stored in vehicles. Rapid response evaluations help the client make a meaningful and accurate assessment of the accident during the early stages.
